Help Needed NOW!
Urge your Members of Congress to Advance the Kids Online Safety Act
The Kids Online Safety Act (S.3663) is a bipartisan bill led by Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) to protect children’s mental health and safety online. We have a mental health crisis for our youth, and they cannot wait! Given upcoming elections, we need the Senate Commerce Committee to act NOW to move the bill forward to have time to move through the process.
This legislation will:
1. Hold big tech accountable through audits and fines to protect users under 18 from social media harms, especially around depression, suicide, and eating disorders.
2. Provide parents and youth tools and safeguards to protect a young user’s experience on social media.
3. Allow scientists access to social media company data to conduct research in the public interest.
