We know caregivers need support in balancing their personal and professional obligations, and employers need resources to better support their caregivers on staff. Participate in a study for families with Florida International University Researchers from Florida International University are interested in connecting with Black and Hispanic individuals ages 18-59, with at least 5 years of regular contact with a family member diagnosed with a mental health condition. They are aiming to conduct a study to make meaning of this experience and build better supportive resources. Participation in the study encompasses a 50-minute interview via Zoom, and a 10-minute survey. The compensation for participating is a $50 gift card. |

[WEBINAR] November 9 @ 2 p.m. ET, Holding on for Others: Caregiving, Chronic Illness, and Self-care Living with a chronic health condition is taxing on one’s physical and mental health. Mental Health America and the National Pancreas Foundation have partnered to bring awareness, education, and resources to those with chronic health conditions such as pancreatitis. But the impacts of chronic health conditions, chronic pain, and other physical health conditions go far beyond those living with them. MHASCK Leadership in Wichita shaping future of mental health Mary Jones, President/CEO of the Wichita-based MHA of South Central Kansas, was invited by Governor Laura Kelly to serve on the advisory panel making recommendations on the location of a proposed 50-bed psychiatric hospital in or near the city. Long a trusted advisor to Governor Kelly, Jones also joined elected officials, law enforcement officers, and providers at a roundtable on the effort in Topeka to broaden Medicaid, thereby providing access for thousands more Kansans to mental health care. |

MHA of South Carolina receives 30 acres to expand rural housing program MHA South Carolina (MHASC) is building a tiny-house village on 30 acres donated by the Anderson School District to expand its rural housing program. However, the exact number of tiny homes to be built is yet to be determined due to regulations on square footage per acre. MHASC improves the lives of South Carolinians with mental illness through advocacy, education, and services. In the past year, MHASC trained 3,907 people in suicide prevention, mental health first aid, and other areas. |

MHA in Orange County part of a pilot program on firearm safety NY State is launching the Firearm Safety for Suicide Prevention workshop, funded by the NY Health Foundation. The initiative aims to empower individuals to discuss firearm safety for suicide prevention. Angela Jo Henze, Executive Director of the MHA in Orange County, Inc., collaborated with the research team and Suicide Prevention Center of New York to create the workshop. |
