New Framework for Public Health's Role in Mental Health MHA, ASTHO, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and CLASP released a framework for public health leaders with strategies to improve mental health and prevent suicide for all. Using feedback from focus groups with youth and MHA affiliates and input from partners, it defines the role of public health in promoting mental health by improving the essential conditions for health and enhancing access to the supports and opportunities that provide care while reducing harm and isolation. |

Technology study to support caregivers of young adults with psychosis Researchers MHA works with at UW have developed Bolster – a mobile app aimed at supporting caregivers of young adults with psychosis. They are currently looking for participants for a study that will inform their work on the app. Participants will either access Bolster or curated resources, complete surveys throughout a 12-week study period, and receive $180. They are seeking caregivers to young people (age 15-35) who have experienced symptoms of psychosis and are not engaged in mental health treatment, own an iPhone, and live in the United States. They will cover the added risks of COVID-19 for people with mental health conditions, the effects of COVID for people with existing mental health needs, the resulting mental health impacts from having COVID-19 and provide information about practical and successful outreach to get folks vaccinated, such as unhoused people, communities of color who have been distrustful, and folks living with mental health conditions. |

MHA in Forsyth County part of "Our State, Our Well-being" initiative MHA in Forsyth County is part of "Our State, Our Well-being," a project to enhance mental health and prevent suicides in North Carolina. Together with Carolina Across 100 and the UNC Suicide Prevention Institute, they are working to identify and implement strategies. This initiative is vital in prioritizing mental health and creating a healthier environment in North Carolina. This will be the grand return of the signature fundraising event since the pandemic. |

MHA of Rockland County and MHA of Westchester are merging MHA of Rockland County and MHA of Westchester are merging to improve health care access and services, addressing gaps in care and whole-person health. The Power of Connection Gala, a fundraising event, will commemorate the union on October 26 and recognize MHAW Board Member and former Board President Meryl A. Allison, MHAR volunteer consultant and former Board Member Dr. Leslie Citrome, and CEO of MHA in New York State Glenn Liebman. |

MHA of Fauquier County provides support for faith-based communities MHA of Fauquier County's Faith Community Wellness Council is an interfaith collaborative. Its mission is to provide resources promoting the health and wellness of spirit, mind, and body for the faith community. The council holds meetings to discuss resources, educational opportunities, and open dialogue on mental wellness, emphasizing the importance of faith-based aid and encouraging participation from congregations or organizations seeking support. |
